Jasper Quote of the Day
“Do caterpillars have birthdays?”
“Do caterpillars have birthdays?”
Jasper: You know what’s something that will be in the future, Mommy?
Me: What, honey?
Jasper: You and I will be friends.
Me: Aren’t we friends now?
Jasper: Yes, we’re friends now. We’re always friends.

In Provincetown, MA:
“All the flags on the street are singing the same song.”
While trying on t-shirts:
“This one overfits!”
AKA wishful thinking:
“When are we having another baby? I want five people in this family.”
“Minivan means elephant in Spanish, did you know that?”
Yesterday was the last day of spring soccer. Because of the holiday weekend, it was a small group, but his friends Chandler, Gibson and Sully were all there, and that’s all that matters to Jasper!

They even played a short scrimmage, and once Jasper figured out what that meant and which goal to aim for, he scored a goal for the yellow team!
They all did a great job! Thanks Coach Louis, and if the stars align, maybe we’ll get to see you again in the fall.
Me: “So Jasper, how do you feel about having a brother* at this point?”
Jasper: “It’s better than it was.”
Me: “Better than it was when?”
Jasper: “Before I had a brother.”
*I know—I’ve been terribly delinquent about posting to this blog recently. But I have a good reason. My son, Jonah, was born last Monday! Regular blogging will return soon. Until then, we’ll have to make do with some photos on Facebook…
After mixed results at soccer programs last year, I wasn’t sure Jasper was going to want to try again this spring, but once he heard that his friends Chandler, Gibson and Sully were game, he wanted to sign up. They (minus Sully, who was not old enough yet) played together last spring season, which Jasper fondly remembers as soccer with “the ladies.”
This session is a different organization (we’ve tried a different one each of the four times we’ve done soccer thus far, so any local folks wanting tips on kid’s soccer leagues in the area drop me a line), so I wasn’t sure how Jasper would accept a new coach, but Coach Louis is the man!
The kids have had two practices, and they are doing great—warming up with stretches, jumping jacks, etc., and participating throughout (which was very nice for me the last time when I took him by myself and was able to sit my huge self in my lawn chair the whole time).
And for those celebrating today—Happy Easter!
“Puff the Magic Dragon, lived by the Red Sea…”
After stepping outside this morning, jacketless (at last!):
“This is the warmest season I ever have saw.”
AKA: more pictures from the preschool perspective. These were taken at different times over the last couple of months:
1) Goofin’ with Daddy,
2) We did actually have a bit of snow here this winter, but
3) Our crepe-paper cherry blossoms remained in bloom.
4) There’s still a little bit of baby in those four-year-old cheeks,
5) Cousin Michael Lester during his visit in February, and
6) Mom’s belly, probably about six weeks ago.
7) Contributed by Gwen, the founder of the “lunch table as art” movement 2009,
8) Gwen’s view of yesterday’s 36-week belly, and
9) Proof that Daddy brushed his teeth this morning.
On the reptile building toy he got yesterday as a reward:
“It’s amazing. This is the best thing I’ve ever seen in town!”
“I can do lots of magical things.”
Jasper: “Mommy? Are monsters real anywhere?”
Me: “Nope. Monsters are not real anywhere.”
Jasper: “Even in Alaska?”
On the chocolate chip muffins we just made:
“Mommy? Why did you not tell me these were so good?”
